Berlin Language & Area Studies Program

  • Semester and Academic Year Options
  • Three-week intensive German language instruction for all students before the semester starts
  • German language instruction (six hours a week) during the semester
  • German-taught area studies courses taught by German faculty at the IES Abroad Center. Courses are available in a variety of areas including: German Language and Literature, Art History, Business, Economics, Film Studies, History, Media, Political Science, Social Sciences.   • Direct enrollment at the esteemed Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
  • Course options at additional Berlin universities, including Technische Universität, Freie Universität, and Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee
  • Extensive range of internship options (including engineering, medicine, natural sciences, and several other fields)
  • Housing with local residents in apartments throughout the city
